World Press Photo 2013

"Ad aggiudicarsi il riconoscimento principale come “Foto dell’anno 2012” è stato il fotografo svedese Paul Hansen (non mostrata in questo blog n.d.r.).
La fotografia scattata per il giornale svedese Dagens Nyheter, mostra il funerale di due bambini palestinesi uccisi in un attacco missilistico israeliano. Nell'immagine si vede un gruppo di uomini che trasporta i due corpi in una strada stretta a Gaza. Le vittime, fratello e sorella, sono avvolti in un telo bianco e si vedono soltanto i volti.
La forza della foto, spiega Mayu Mohanna, membro della giuria originario del Perù, sta nel modo in cui mostra il contrasto fra rabbia e dolore degli adulti da una parte e innocenza dei bambini dall'altra."

L'edizione di quest'anno in particolare ha scatenato non poche polemiche riguardo l'eccessivo abuso della sofferenza umana e del fotoritocco.

Come sempre, sarà in mostra presso la Galleria Carla Sozzani a Milano a partire dal 4 maggio con ingresso gratuito.

"The international jury of the 56th annual World Press Photo Contest has selected a picture by Paul Hansen of the Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter as the World Press Photo of the Year 2012 (not showed in this blog - editor's note). The picture shows a group of men carrying the bodies of two dead children through a street in Gaza City. They are being taken to a mosque for the burial ceremony while their father’s body is carried behind on a stretcher. Two-year-old Suhaib Hijazi and his older brother Muhammad were killed when their house was destroyed by an Israeli missile strike. Their mother was put in intensive care. The picture was made on 20 November 2012 in Gaza City, Palestinian Territories.
Mayu Mohanna, jury member from Peru, said of Paul Hansen’s winning picture: The strength of the pictures lies in the way it contrasts the anger and sorrow of the adults with the innocence of the children. It’s a picture I will not forget."

This year's edition have been accused of excessive use of human suffering and photoshop alteration.

As usual, it will be shown at the Galleria Carla Sozzani in Milan starting from may the 4th with free entrance.

Una mostra fotografica - A photographic exhibit

 

E' confermato, il 27 e 28 di aprile la mostra si farà. Non solo, sabato sera ci sarà anche un concerto nell'affascinante location, all'interno della chiesetta sconsacrata in provincia di Milano.

Fulmine a ciel sereno - Bolt from the blue

 

Fa molto discutere in rete la foto del fulmine che colpisce la Basilica di San Pietro la sera stessa in cui il Papa ha dichiarato di voler dare le dimissioni. Molti parlano di volgare fotoritocco e gridano allo scandalo, ma le cose non stanno cosi'.

Premesso che ritoccare una foto mettendoci un fulmine e' la cosa piu' semplice di questa terra, per quanto riguarda la foto in oggetto e' praticamente certo che si tratti di una vera, innanzitutto perche' scattata da Alessandro Di Meo, fotografo ANSA che avrebbe solo da perderci nel diffondere immagini fasulle, poi perche' fotografare i fulmini e' abbastanza facile: basta poggiare la macchina su un treppiede o una transenna (come in questo caso), utilizzare un tempo di esposizione lungo in una serata di temporale e riprendere un fulmine diventa molto probabile.

Certo un pizzico di fortuna aiuta sempre!

There are lot of talks on the Internet around the lightining bolt hitting the San Pietro Cathedral the same night the Pope said he wanted to resign. Many say it is a gross photoretouch and cry scandal, but things are different.

Even if modifying a photo adding a bolt is the easiest thing on earth, regarding this picture is almost shure that is a real one, because was shot by Alessandro Di Meo first of all, an ANSA photographer that would only receive damage publishing fake images, and then because shooting a lightning bolt is quite simple, it is enough to put the camera on a tripod or a fence (as for this case), use a long exposure time during a stormy night and catching a bolt becomes very usual.

Of course a bit of luck it is always helpful.

Le nuove edizioni - The new issues

Entrambi i miei ebook sono giunti alla seconda edizione. Le principali migliorie sono: possibilità di lettura in verticale, possibilità di variare la grandezza dei caratteri, visione delle immagini ad alta risoluzione a schermo intero, correzione di piccoli errori nel testo.

L'aggiornamento è gratuito per chi ha già acquistato la prima edizione. E la traduzione in inglese è in arrivo...

Both of my ebooks have now reached the second edition. The main improvements are: possibility to read in portrait mode, possibility to change the font size, images in hi-res and full screen view, few text errors fixing.

The update is free for whom already bought the first issue. And the English translation is on the way...

Fino al 12 maggio a Venezia, nella originale cornice della Giudecca presso la Casa dei Tre Oci è possibile ammirare la mostra del grande Gianni Berengo Gardin, che "considera questa mostra come la più rappresentativa della sua carriera: in parete oltre 130 stampe analogiche che ripercorrono il suo lavoro di reporter e che sono lo specchio di un autore che ha fatto dell'etica la sua bandiera.
Berengo Gardin ha voluto rivedere tutta la sua produzione, le mostre passate, i libri (oltre 200), le pubblicazioni editoriali (giornali e magazine) per rileggere il tutto con lo sguardo di oggi, per scegliere le immagini che meglio di altre raccontassero la sua storia, una sintesi del suo viaggio da fotografo, dagli esordi all'ultima immagine che ha scattato in digitale, due ragazzi che si baciano per strada".

In the original frame of Giudecca in Venice, at the Casa dei Tre Oci and up to may 12th, will be possible to visit the gallery of the great Gianni Berengo Gardin, who "considers this gallery as the most representative of his career: on the wall over 130 analog prints that follow his reporter's job and that are an author's mirror who made ethic his flag. Berengo Gardin wanted to review the whole of his production, past galleries, books (200 and more), publication (newspapers and magazines) in order to reread everything with today's view, to choose images that best tell his history, a synthesis of his photographer's travel, form the beginning to the last picture shot in digital, two guys kissing along the street".
